HELIXCHANGER
IMB’s HELIXCHANGER® references include large HELIFIN® and ‘Texas Tower’ heat exchangers.
The HELIXCHANGER® heat exchanger uses LUMMUS Technology’s industry-proven, enhanced heat transfer technology to provide solutions for common issues such as shell-side fouling, high-pressure drop and vibration. Quadrant shaped baffle plates are placed at an angle to the tube axis in a sequential arrangement to create a helical flow pattern. Whether the need is to extend the operating period between cleaning campaigns of crude preheat exchangers, reduce capital costs in a petrochemical plant or improve energy efficiency of feed/ effluent towers, HELIXCHANGER® advanced heat exchanger technology offers a lower life-cycle cost solution in refining, power and petrochemical facilities worldwide.
HELIXCHANGER® is a registered trademark of Lummus Technology, Inc.
Range of reactors, separators and shell and tube heat exchangers for a variety of petrochemical processes. Working with leading process licensors including Lummus (McDermott), Versalis, Badger, LyondellBasell, ExxonMobil, DOW Chemicals, SABIC, Aker Solutions, DuPont, Chemtex, Invista, GTC Technology and UOP.
Styrene
Monomer produced by the catalytic dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene.
VRV is approved by the major styrene process licensors: Versalis, CB&I Lummus and Badger and specializes in the design and manufacture of all main pressure vessel and heat exchanger components of a styrene production plant.
Typical fabrication materials are stainless steel and high alloys for high temperature (i.e. SS304H and Incoloy 825).
PE / HDPE / LDPE / PP
Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer obtained through the polymerization of ethene.
Polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic polymer classified into several categories based on its density and branching. VRV is approved by the main licensors of Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP) production processes: Dow Chemical, ExxonMobil and LyondellBasell. VRV features the complete range of main reactors and heat exchangers for the PE / HDPE / LDPE / PP process, including high pressure components up to 365 bar.
Terephthalic Acid (TA) and Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA)
VRV has developed and supplied several components for TA and PTA production plants worldwide in accordance with the INVISTA license and specifications.
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
VRV provides several reactor components used in the production processes for PET and PVC.
Elastomer
VRV is approved by the major process licensors: Badger, Eurotecnica, ExxonMobil, Geon (Polyone), Invista, Lummus, LyondellBasell, ThyssenKrupp, Versalis and specializes in the design and manufacture of all main pressure vessels and heat exchangers components of an elastomer production plant.
Melamine
Major melamine process licensors such as Eurotecnica and Agrolinz include VRV in the list of qualified suppliers.
Typical units supplied include:
Paraxylene
VRV provides a highly sophisticated crystallizer vessel for the production of paraxylene, in accordance with the CB&I Lummus and GTC Technology licenses.
It is a large size vessel (dia: 3,600 mm, length: 21,500 mm, weight: 20 ton) thin wall, in full stainless steel with extremely tight inside tolerances in order to accommodate a scraper mixing element and a refrigerating circulation system on the exterior surface.
Range of heat exchangers, reformers, reactors and separators used in the production of ammonia, urea and methanol for fertilizers.
Ammonia
VRV is an approved vendor for all major ammonia production licensors, including Haldor Topsoe, Linde, ThyssenKrupp and Ammonia Casale.
For ammonia synthesis VRV supplies proprietary technology items including the Ammonia Converter Internals (i.e. Baskets or Cartridges) to all major processors. These items are very sophisticated in the design and construction materials and require great expertise in the fabrication process. Since the late ’80s VRV has supplied more than 60 Ammonia Converter Baskets in accordance with numerous licenses including radial flow and single-bed, two-bed and the latest three-bed catalyst designs.
Methanol
Both the main licensors for the methanol process, Topsoe and Methanol Casale, have approved and qualified VRV as a vendor.
Typical components supplied by VRV for a methanol production plant:
Polysilicon can be produced by Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD), mixing Trichlorosilane (SiHCl3) and Hydrogen (H2) in a reactor at extremely high temperature (up to 1150 Celsius degrees), and through the deposition of Silicium on a filament run by electric current.
VRV has been the leading manufacturer of CVD Reactors and STC Converters for more than a quarter of a century having supplied >400 units. VRV has reacted to market demand for greater efficiency and reduced power consumption by developing reactors with the capacity to produce >600 tons of polysilicon per year.
In addition to the equipment, VRV can deliver a Process Design Package (PDP), which can be converted into a Detail Design by any qualified EPC contractor.
Heat Exchangers for Offshore
Minimizing plot plan and weight are the most critical aspects of every offshore installation. IMB understands this and has a demonstrable track record of engineering the optimum heat exchanger solution that meets process specifications while occupying the least space.
Reference points include oil and gas steam heaters, glycol coolers, discharge coolers and the Asgard Subsea Compression Project, the first of its kind in the world with compressors installed on the seabed instead of a platform.
